On May 25,2020 , the world changed. On that day the world witnessed the murder of George Floyd, an unarmed black man born right here in Cumberland County. After watching the video, I couldn’t help but to identify with brother Floyd , because as a black man in America we all know the history between our community and law enforcement. Brother Floyd’s final words, “I CAN”T BREATH, have become a rallying cry for the movement focused on ending systemic racism in America. His death sparked a fire that has been building since the Civil Rights movement, and even here in his birthplace people have united for the common goal to end discrimination, police brutality, and demand justice for all. We at Creek 4 Kids, believe that we all must answer the call, and we will stand up, speak up, and do something so that George Floyd’s name lives on.

Black people being murdered by the people who are sworn to protect them isn’t new, and sadly its become all to common. “SAY THERE NAMES”, like George Floyd, Stephon Clark, Sandra Bland, or Breonna Taylor . Different people, different genders, but same color and same result. Now, the case of Breonna Taylor, has taken a life of it’s own with Justice For Breonna protest popping up all over the world. There is still a lot of mystery around the facts of the case., but he truth about her untimely death may be more sinister than expected. According to her attorney, her death may be connected to a real estate development project in Louisville, but the facts are still coming to light, and it highlights even more injustice.
